Flag of Comunitat Valenciana

The flag of the Valencian Community, known as the 'Senyera Coronada' or 'Reial Senyera', consists of four horizontal red bars on a gold field — the same arms as the Crown of Aragón — distinguished by a vertical blue (azure) band edged in gold along the hoist, charged with the royal crown of James I the Conqueror. This distinctive blue band with crown commemorates the conferring of the royal crown upon the Kingdom of Valencia by Peter IV in 1377. The flag was officialized by the Statute of Autonomy in 1982.

Coat of Arms of Comunitat Valenciana

The coat of arms of the Valencian Community is the Senyera Coronada: a shield bearing four red (gules) pales on a gold (or) field — the historical bars of the Crown of Aragón — ensigned with a closed royal crown. The arms reflect the territory's incorporation into the Crown of Aragón by King James I the Conqueror in 1238 following the conquest of Valencia. The royal crown specifically commemorates the status of the Kingdom of Valencia as a separate kingdom within the Crown of Aragón.
