The Union Jack or Union Flag is the national flag of the United Kingdom. The flag is an overlay of the cross of Saint George (the patron saint of England), edged in white, superimposed on the red saltire of Saint Patrick (the patron saint of Ireland), also edged in white, superimposed on the saltire of Saint Andrew (the patron saint of Scotland). Wales is not represented in the flag because the earlier flag of Great Britain was designed while Wales was part of the Kingdom of England.
The coat of arms of the United Kingdom, also referred to as the royal arms, are the arms of dominion of the British monarch, currently Charles III. They are used by the Government of the United Kingdom and by other Crown institutions, including courts in the United Kingdom and in some parts of the Commonwealth. Differenced versions of the arms are used by members of the British royal family. The monarch's official flag, the royal standard, is the coat of arms in flag form.
Beyond the national coat of arms, United Kingdom is divided into regions and provinces, each carrying its own heraldic identity. Click on United Kingdom on the interactive map to explore its administrative subdivisions and discover the coats of arms of each region, province, and territory.
