"La tête de Maure" est l'emblème de la Corse depuis le "Consulte" qui s'est tenu à Corte le 24 novembre 1762. Elle figurait déjà sur les monnaies du Roi Théodore. Elle remonterait aux Croisades et on la trouve sur les étendards du Roi d'Aragon. Elle serait le symbole d'une victoire sur les infidèles dont un chef aurait été décapité et la tête portée en haut d'une pique.
Corsica is an island in the Mediterranean Sea and one of the 18 regions of France. It is the fourth-largest island in the Mediterranean and lies southeast of the French mainland, west of the Italian Peninsula and immediately north of the Italian island of Sardinia, the nearest land mass. A single chain of mountains makes up two-thirds of the island. As of January 2026, it had a population of 365,636.
Corse is an administrative region of France. Like many European regions, it has its own coat of arms that represents its history, culture, and geographical characteristics.
